Part of the Kimpton range of hotels, the Monaco is a small but beautiful boutique hotel with one or two quirks which make it stand out from the other hotels. Firstly, you can have a pet goldfish in your room, just to keep you company, no strings attached, no charges applied! There’s also the 5pm cheese and wine reception with complimentary tarot reading, neck massages and the chance to mingle with other guests for informal chats. No only that but there’s fresh baked cookies at the reception desk all afternoon!
The hotel’s architecture is of a French inspiration, with bold colours and rich decoration. The lobby has a huge fireplace, comfortable sofas and plenty of space. There is also a complimentary luxury health club and steam room for guest’s use.
The bedrooms are decorated with lime green and yellow walls, broken up by red draperies. The rooms are bold an interesting with “Dreamiest” pillow top beds, WebTVs, games consoles and gourmet treats in the honour bar.
Some rooms have whirlpool baths and all rooms have luxury robes and plush shower curtains.
The hotel is one of the only pet friendly hotels in San Francisco and not only are you living in luxury but your pet is too. You can ask for the Bone-a-petit package where you will get dog bowl, towels and hotel temporary collar tags amongst a host of other things!
Dining is in the Grand Café, a restored turn of the century ballroom, and is French-Californian cuisine of fresh seafood, roast meats and theatrical desserts. Snacks are available in the adjacent Petite Café.
