The Omni was built in the 1920’s and still retains the renaissance style. As the hotel is set in the financial district, you should be aware that weekends in the hotel are quiet and the surrounding area doesn’t cater for tourists in the way the blocks closer to Union Square do. You may have to walk a few blocks to find restaurants and entertainment.
The marble steps into the lobby lead you into an ornate room with chandeliers and plush carpeting, a classical style which is seen throughout the hotel. The hotel is geared towards business travellers and has a full business centre and some rooms with business facilities such as scanner/printer, complimentary wi-fi and a high speed internet connection. There’s a full gym for guests use and some rooms even have a mini treadmill and keep fit kit available.
Bedrooms are elegant with rich fabrics and early 20th century features. You can expect to find heavy gold and green curtains, 320 count linens and comfortable 1920’s style furniture mixed with a selection of modern amenities such as large TV with games console, electronic safe, three phone lines and CD/clock radios. Bathrooms are marble with cozy terry robes and lit make up mirrors.
There is one restaurant in the hotel, Bob’s Steak & Chop House, serving the steaks and seafood you would expect from such a name. It has a full wall of windows offering you the opportunity to watch the world go by as you dine. The adjacent bar is an ideal retreat for coffees and wines whilst resting on leather seats and watching one of the two plasma TVs.
