The Serrano is a beautiful but small Kimpton hotel set right in the heart of the theatre area. Like it’s sister hotel, the Monaco, the Serrano has a few things which make it stand out from the crowd. Every evening from 5pm until 6pm there’s the complimentary wine hour with tarot reading and neck massages available to those who want them. There’s also the chance to mingle with other guests and pick up some great ideas about places to visit.
Serrano guests are entitled to use the health club at the Monaco which is just a couple of blocks away and for those less energetic the hotel has a wide variety of games which can be played in the lobby or you can borrow them to take to your room. On arrival, the staff will challenge you to a hand of twenty-one. If you win, there’s prizes of room upgrades, free local telephone calls and a whole host of other fun gifts, if however you lose, the hotel ask that you make a donation of $5 to their favourite charity!
This hotel is pet friendly and you just need to ask to book their special pet package which includes special mineral water and a low impact walk with the concierge among other things!
The décor in the Serrano is warm and inviting, with bold ornate features. There’s an abundance of comfy seating in the lobby where you will be surrounded with intricate carvings on columns and mouldings. Just the place to sit and relax.
The bedrooms are bright and have a Spanish flavour to them. High ceilings, huge windows (although not all have brilliant views), comfortable beds, plush draperies and bedding. Not only this but rooms have complimentary high speed internet access, fax machines, 27” TV with movies and games console, gourmet honour bar and a whole host of other treats. Bathrooms are elegant marble and are filled with plush robes, hairdryer and designer toiletries.
The hotel’s restaurant, Ponzu, is Japanese & Thai with a Califonian twist and the dishes are meant to be shared. It, like the rest of the hotel is bold with swirling lights and uniquely shaped bar serving cocktails ‘til late.
